CYPRUS is hoping to cut-out a role as a location for international films and television productions.
The island, which boasts mountains, coastal locations and many historic buildings, is hoping to attract film-makers from across the world.
“We attended a film festival in India in February, and there is an interest in new locations such as Cyprus if there are the right conditions,” Natasa Pillides, the head of the Cyprus Investment Promotion Agency, told the daily Cyprus Mail.
Constantinos Petrides, the undersecretary to the president, said there is also interest from other countries such as Russia.
In 2016, Express TravelWorld reported that the Cyprus High Commission in India was working on marketing the island in India to attract Bollywood producers and also high-end tourists.
Bollywood is one of the largest film producers in India, representing 43% of net box office revenue.
