A Mi-8 helicopter crashed on Wednesday upon landing in Russia’s Far Eastern region of Kamchatka, leaving three passengers injured, said the regional Ministry of Healthcare.
The injured were a U.S. national, a French national and a Russian citizen. They were sent to hospital for treatment.
The accident occurred near the Mutnovsky Volcano. The helicopter was delivering 16 tourists who had planned to practise heliskiing, the ministry said.
Preliminary information showed that a gear breakdown has led to the accident.
